An Inclusive World Would Be…

Made with Padlet

As with any other Sustainable Development Goals, it is customary to articulate inclusion and gender equality in terms of abstract North Stars (e.g. “end all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere” [1], “adopt policies, especially fiscal, wage and social protection policies, and progressively achieve greater equality” [2]).

In order to create change, we pivot to the pragmatic extreme. We focus on understanding current challenges (e.g. the system map of the factors accounting for the low representation of women in leadership positions in tech companies) and tackle the problem on sizeable SMART goals (e.g. in 2007 Norway 2007 passed a law requiring all listed companies to have at least 40% women on their boards [3]).

The approaches are complementary: we need the North Start to guide us and the short and mid-term objectives to keep us focused on delivering results. There is room for an additional angle: A vision board that enables us to identify and clarify our long-term goals as well as exchange ideas with others.

Let’s think big and imagine how an inclusive world would look like. Now check the vision board below

  • What do you think of the ideas on the board? Do they align with your vision or contradict it?
  • What is missing?

YOUR TURN: Go ahead and like and dislike posts. Create new posts that capture how an inclusive world would look like for you.

Thanks for your contribution!
